ROSE HOUSE
Set alongside an expansive parkland, this garden was designed to strengthen the relationship between home and landscape. The architecture creates opportunities for planting at every turn, with courtyards, lightwells, and garden edges bringing greenery deep into the experience of the home.
Â
The challenge was to soften the scale of the rammed earth walls while remaining sympathetic to their materiality and the landscape beyond. Tree ferns and fine leaved deciduous trees provide dappled shade and a gentle canopy, while a restrained palette of predominantly native species responds to both the earthy tones of the architecture and the character of the neighbouring parkland. Carefully composed and intentionally simple, the planting allows the architecture to breathe while creating a garden that feels settled, immersive, and connected to its surroundings.
