Thomas House is a garden shaped by planting. Around the heritage home, soft and textural layers create a gentle sense of enclosure, with the narrow front setback densely planted to provide informal screening and a welcoming arrival.
 

The lightwell has become the heart of the project, where carpets of baby tears and native violets have slowly taken hold, softening the space and creating a rich green understory that changes with the light throughout the day.
 

To the rear, an existing eucalyptus sets both the character and conditions of the garden. Planting works with the tree rather than against it, celebrating its presence while introducing a perennial palette that brings colour, movement, and seasonal change through spring and summer. The result is a relaxed, abundant garden that feels layered, generous, and deeply connected to the rhythms of the year.
